Community & Resident Information

As we welcome stunning Tall Ships, international crews, and thousands of visitors, there will be some temporary changes that may affect residents and businesses in the area.

We’re committed to keeping you informed about everything you need to know. More information will be added to this page as it's available and you can contact tallshipsaberdeen@aberdeencity.gov.uk with any queries.

Road closures and parking restrictions

To safely accommodate the expected visitors, a number of parking restrictions and road closures will be in place throughout the event footprint and across parts of the local area.

We would ask that you consider these restrictions and ensure that your operations or journeys are planned to reduce disruption to your or your business.

The Tall Ships Aberdeen team is keen to ensure that the organisation of this event causes minimal disruption to those working, visiting, and residing within or adjacent to the event sites. We hope the maps and timings detailed on these pages provides you with relevant information and that you will enjoy The Tall Ships Races Aberdeen.

Normal pedestrian access and emergency services access will remain in place at all times.

We apologise for this inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation.

Marischal Street - No Waiting Restriction

A no waiting restriction will be enforced on Marischal Street between 09:00 on Thursday 17 July until 06:00 on Wednesday 23 July.

This includes all residents and businesses with Aberdeen City Council parking permits for Zone F and disabled persons parking spaces. All vehicles must be removed from Marischal Street during this period.

Any cars left on Marischal Street will receive a parking penalty enforcement notice and will be removed at the owner’s cost.

To minimise disruption on impacted residents, we are working in partnership with NCP to provide free parking at their Shiprow car park during the restrictions. The free parking is available for residents of Marischal Street with a parking permit for zone F.

If you are a resident of Marischal Street and have a Zone F parking permit or disabled persons parking place, and intend to make use of the NCP parking provision, please email tallshipsaberdeen@aberdeencity.gov.uk by Monday 30 June.

Footdee Residents Event Information

All residents will receive one access pass in June and additional passes can be requested by contacting tallshipsaberdeen@aberdeencity.gov.uk by Tuesday 7 July.

Castle Street, Castlehill and Castle Terrace Residents

In order to safely deliver The Tall Ships Races Aberdeen and following advice from Police Scotland, a gated barrier will be installed on Justice Street, at its junction with Castle Street.

This barrier will be stewarded during the event to manage access only for residents and businesses with a valid access permit.

Vehicle access to this area will be on production of an event access permit from 06:00 on Saturday 19 July until 06:00 Wednesday 23 July.

of permits required.

The access permit only provides access and is not a parking permit. The access permit does not remove any of the current parking  restrictions and permissions that exist in this area.
