The four-day festival sails into Aberdeen from 19-22 July and it has captured the imagination of the public. Not seen in the city for 28 years, memories of previous visits mean there is a real air of anticipation.
Aberdeen is the only UK port hosting the world-renowned Tall Ships Races in 2025. It is expected to attract more 50 Tall Ships from across the globe and 400,000 visits, while offering life-changing experiences to young people, and generating an economic boost worth tens of millions of pounds.
With its mix of human stories, breathtaking visuals, and national impact, this is shaping up to be a must-cover event.
Media accreditation offers:
- access to the Media Centre and attendance at the essential daily media briefings that highlight everything that is going on
- first access to exclusive interviews with the people with stories to tell
- access to media boats (depending on availability, however only those with media accreditation will be offered a place)
- a dedicated point of contact to help you track down the people you need, such as young sailors, ships’ captains and organisers.
- the opportunity to cover Quayside Concerts (depending on availability, however only those with media accreditation will be offered a place)
Highlights include:
- inspiring stories: young people from all backgrounds will be setting sail on a life-changing adventure, joining the crew of a Tall Ship from Dunkirk to Aberdeen or Aberdeen to Kristiansand.
- spectacular visuals: being out at sea capturing majestic Tall Ships arriving into Port of Aberdeen, international crews enjoying the city and preparing for the next leg, and cultural celebrations make this a strong visual story for TV and digital.
- timely national themes: the event ties into wider discussions around maritime heritage, sustainability, and the Aberdeen and the UK’s evolving relationship with the sea - from offshore industries to green energy.
Working journalists may register and attend The Tall Ships Races Aberdeen 2025 at no cost, however, only accredited media will receive a media badge for the event. The organising partners reserve the right to accept or reject any request for media credentials. All media are encouraged to apply for accreditation in advance for a smoother check-in experience and assured entry. >> Terms and conditions are here <<
