The tall ships races Aberdeen 2025 is offering young adventurers aged 15–25 amazing sailing opportunities that combines adventure and teamwork in 2024 and 2025.

2024 - Day Sail Adventure Aberdeen

The historic ‘Swan’ Tall Ship Swan is running day sail adventures from 10–23 July 2024 from Port of Aberdeen.

The day sail adventures are sold out. Don't worry if you didn't secure a place - you will still be eligible to apply for becoming a Sail Trainee in 2025 and applications open later this year.

About Swan

Built and launched in Shetland in 1900, Swan was on the finest boards among the Scottish fishing fleet. Restored to its former glory by a team of dedicated volunteers, it now offers sailing training experiences for young people.

2025 – The Tall Ships Races Aberdeen

The Tall Ships Races are organised by Sail Training International with the fundamental aims to provide sailing experience and foster international friendship for young people.

From 19–22 July 2025, the races return to Aberdeen for the first time in almost 30 years. You could join the trainee crew sailing from Dunkirk, France to Aberdeen or Aberdeen to Kristiansand, Norway.

Eligibility and application

  • If you live in Aberdeen or Aberdeenshire and you’ll be aged between 15 and 25 in July 2025, then you can apply! Our aim is for the trainee programme is to be inclusive, diverse, and accessible to all.
  • No sailing experience is required, and funding opportunities and support is available. Applications will open later in the year. Meantime you can register your interest in applying by using the form below.
